Monkey Island Returns
As I read it on Rock, Paper, Shotgun, it struck me like a bolt of lightning. Two things:
- There will be another Monkey Island sequel by Telltale Games
- There will be a remake of the very first original Monkey Island by Lucas Arts
Ok, number one wasn’t as exciting as number two. Why? Because there have already been a number of sequels after the second Monkey Island game which were good games but never reached the level of the first and the second one. Many fans attributed this to the absence of Monkey Island father Ron Gilbert in the development of those sequels. Ron Gilbert was involved only in the first two Mokey Islands. Apart from that the trailer and the graphic style of the new sequel didn’t really convince me.
The Monkey Island remake, however, really cought my attention. Although I’m a friend of pixel graphics which nowadays is perceived as ugly by many people, I really enjoy the graphical facelift. And for those who are missing the charme of the original graphics there is a button in the game which allows you to switch to the old-fashioned design at any time.
Oh, and the remake will feature complete voicework.
